Emilia Illana is a Spanish Lecturer at Cornell University. She teaches Spanish at a variety of levels and specializes in Second Language (L2) writing. She recently completed her Ph.D. in Second Language Acquisition at The University of Iowa. Her main research interests lie in language pedagogy, L2 writing development, and technology enhanced learning. Working at the intersection of these areas, her Ph.D. thesis explored feedback giving and peer reviewing in the online context. Emilia is also interested in other SLA areas, including L2 teaching, curriculum design, L2 writing, digital narratives, technology, and assessment. In addition to her teaching responsibilities, she has also tutored at the Spanish Writing and Speaking Center and has recently co-author a chapter in the book “Theories and Methods of Writing Centers Studies: A Practice Guide” (Mackiewicz & Rebecca Babcoc, 2019).
